“You know, if every cat looks at Crowfeather and thinks about the affair… you’re not just poisoning his image. You're poisoning your own image, too.”
“So be it,” Breezepelt mutters, and suddenly Mousewhisker can understand why Heathertail might struggle with Breezepelt. Mousewhisker has spent his entire life trying to make cats forget about where he comes from; so that when they gaze upon him they find him perfectly acceptable. So when they compare him to Foxleap or Poppyfrost or Lioblaze they can’t find the differences. The faults.
Breezepelt is the son of a Clan hero, he’s the friend of Onestar’s daughter, he was mentored by Onestar’s mate. Breezepelt was born with It, born with whatever Mousewhisker lacks. It should be so easy for Breezepelt to be accepted, to be loved, to climb the ranks even despite his father’s affair, and yet here he is so bitter at one cat that he would burn his own birthright to ashes.
The silence prompts Breezepelt to tilt his head back, and now Mousewhisker can clearly see his mocking expression. “What?” He asks. “Can’t relate to that, can you?”
“Not really, no.”
— be still my foolish heart (don’t ruin this for me, c3)

i wish more people would make audiobooks/podfics of their warrior cat fanfics. i want to hear other peoples OC stories but i also dont rly like reading on screens. and i want to multitask.
i've looked on youtube a couple times but i can only find joke readings of "bad" old fics. or very young kids recording their first stories, which, y'know, good for them but that's not quite what i'm looking for lol
are there other places that host podfics other than youtube that i don't know about??

The Story of Snow: Prologue
~First~ ~Next~
Warnings: Blood, death, slight ableism
“Well,” The shadowy black cat whispered “Just look at that.” She chuckled softly as the two cats looked down into the shimmering pool that provided a window into the thunderclan nursery’s scene of death, and new life. One dead queen, her black pelt covered in patches of white fur stained by red blood. A waste, the black cat thought. And two new kits, the blood licked off them by the ice colored she-cat above them.
So similar. Yet they would walk such separate paths due to their difference, and their father.
Their father. The dark gray tom, speckled with lighter spots, sobbed over the dead queen. Ignoring his new daughters.
Oh the little kits. They looked so innocent, their white pelts licked clean of their mother’s blood. But black stood out in the nest they had been moved to. Two black paws, one for each. She didn’t care about one of them, the one with the perfectly normal right black paw. She would come in useful, but for now, it was the other that was important. The cat reached her paw out over the pool. It was a pure white, a contrast to her dark pelt. In all but color, the paw matched the other kit’s left paw exactly.
Twisted. Deformed. Whatever they wanted to call it. It was still deadly.
Just as the little kit would be. A smile grew on her face as she hummed and whispered
“That’s the one. Just like me.” A soft chuckle grew from the golden brown she-cat next to her, who spoke in a soft, warm voice, so opposite from the sharpness of the black she-cat,
“Yes. Now watch, my dear.” Their tails intertwined slightly as they turned their attention back. A golden she-cat burst into the nursery and froze in the entryway. Her face unreadable, but emotions raging in her piercing dark golden eyes. The ice-colored she-cat looked up and said softly
“Goldenpelt, I’m so sorry, and I know what happened to your litter, but Brightspot is out of milk, and…” She trailed off, casting a grief stricken look at the dead queen. She missed as the Golden cat, Goldenpelt’s eyes grew cold and angry, burying the pain. She broke the quiet with a snap in a cold voice, that shook only slightly
“Darklight is dead. I can see that, Iceleaf." Iceleaf cast her a worried look before sighing. The tom finally looked up, his voice breaking as he spoke softly
“Please. You’re the only queen.” The anger in her eyes flared to fire as she looked at him, but she looked to the kits and sighed, the fire cooled to ice. After a pause, she snapped
"Fine, Ashstar, I'll take care of the brats. What are their names?" Slight relief washed over Ashstar, and Iceleaf nodded. Ashstar rose from his position over the queen and took a few steps to his daughters. His eyes focused on the kit without the twisted paw first. He paused, then lightly placed his paw on the little kit, declaring softly
“This one shall be named, Whitekit.” He smiled, warmth in his amber eyes as he looked at his perfect little daughter. After a second, Iceleaf nodded to the second kit and he looked over. He paused, then shivered and looked up, as did Iceleaf and Goldenpelt. They all glanced to the den entrance, where new snow fell softly. He smiled and reasted a paw on the other kit, saying
“And this one will be Snowkit.” He looked down and began to smile when he froze, his smile falling, as he saw the twisted paw. A coldness entered his eyes as a frown marred his face and he drew his paw away from his daughter, who let out a small mewl. After a silent second, he looked back to Whitekit with a smile.
It was done. With that, it had started.
The shadowy cat smiled and nodded. The golden brown cat pulled her starry paw through the pool, the image ripping out to reflect the starry trees surrounding the pair, who smiled and leaned into one another. After a second, the black cat, glowing with a dark red, asked
“Is everything set on your side?” The golden brown she-cat with swirls of stars in her pelt, following her patterns, nodded and said
“As much as they can be for now my dear.” She nodded and they stayed there for a moment together, before the starry one carefully stood and stepped away, saying
“You must go, my dear.” The shadowy one sighed and stood as well, beginning to walk away, before she paused and looked back, saying softly
“Until I see you again.” The other smiled and echoed
“Until I see you again.” The shadowy one slipped through the trees, the two’s voices whispering in unison
“To the future.”
Thank you for reading! Please continue if you enjoyed!
(But do note that this Prologue was rewritten after I started writing the story, so the quality may decrease some before returning)
As some notes, anything from omen of the stars onward is not cannon in this fanfiction, because I have not read them all. The Story of Snow does deal with darker subjects sometimes, and there is a lot of death. I hope to make you cry (Half joking. If I make you cry, that means you connected to the characters and I've done my job well)

Question for those people who follow me and read Warriors
Currently still deciding on whether I want to make an AU or a rewrite. Leaning more towards the AU so I can change things up more but ya never know I might just do a timeskip from the latest arc, me and my sister both have stated we'd prefer the next arc to be a timeskip and since she's busy at College I'll take matters into my own hands if I'm feeling up to it.

Hey I wan to ask a question.
What is an acceptable amount of cats in a clan? I’ve been doing 20-35 cats per clan but I have no idea if that’s the normal amount.

I figured it would be cool to do this for the valley clans.
TigerClan, living in a dense rainforest-like habitat far from the canonical five clans, very much love bulky with tabby stripes like their ancestors before them. The bigger the warrior, the more likely they are to catch much harder prey like deer. However, this beauty standard is more typical for toms, as a majority of the TigerClan toms are genetically bigger than LeopardClan or PantherClan, but smaller than LionClan. The she-cats have a different standard—while the bigger the better standard still stands, the stripes aren't as important for she-cats. All TigerClan apprentices are taught how to swim, as they use the rivers in their territory for prey and exercise. So, while bulk is liked by she-cats for toms, it is harder for toms to swim swiftly is they are bigger or fluffier. Because she-cats are trained from apprenticeship to be able to climb, they're less expected to hunt and fight from the ground. For both toms and she-cats alike, the more you are able to camouflage from prey and predators, the more likely you are to fit the standards. Torties are very well liked for this reason. While size is a major standard for TigerClan standards, Panthereye is the most desired she-cat in the clan, for her tortie pelt makes it easier for a blend in (a requirement for TigerClan in a territory with predators). For the standards of toms, Dawnstar would probably be an icon of it—being a large, fluffy tabby, and large in the muscular sense. While not born in TigerClan, Oakheart and Redtail also meet these standards for different reasons. Oakheart reminds Crabstorm especially of a tiger—while not a dark tabby per se, but the brown of his pelt is very similar to the brown of the tigers in Crabstorm's visions. The fact Redtail's a tortoiseshell is a main reason he's thought of as attractive—though not as much as Oakheart by TigerClan she-cats—as well as his thicker stature.
LeopardClan's standards are relatively similar in terms of patterns. However, spotted tabbies are more preferred in she-cats especially. A LeopardClan cat's spots are a sense of pride for them, and the more spots the more desired a cat is. Cats like Leopardstar would be well-liked in LeopardClan. As most of the members of LeopardClan have spots, none in particular are really held up high for meeting the beauty standard. Most of the standards hold up that your spots express your individuality from your clanmates. As long as you are fast and more so lean (therefore able to be faster than TigerClan or LionClan warriors), LeopardClan beauty standards are met. However, Dawnstar and Panthereye's sister had been regarded as not overly attractive by LeopardClan standards.
Unlike TigerClan and LeopardClan, LionClan beauty standards are much against patterns like spotted or classic tabby. As their territory is a dry plains compared to the forests the other two clans live in, pale and even golden pelts are more desired. The less markings you have, the more likely you are to blend in and catch more prey. The beauty standard is more preferred for the she-cats, as they're the hunters of the clan, while the toms hold positions such as leader, doctor and priest. The toms' standards aren't as well defined as the standards for the female warriors, however a large build is often sought out with LionClan toms. Smaller LionClan cats are often thought of as weak and poor hunters, and they tend to take on camp centred roles for this very reason.
PantherClan, while the other clans don't really know or care for their preferences, are much like LionClan. Most warriors aren't terribly lean like LeopardClan cats, but not thick or bulky like TigerClan or LionClan. As for their standards fitting their territory, darker grays fit more into the clan's dark and dead territory. Living on the old battlefield, much of the territory is dry and crust. So long as you can survive off what the territory provides, appearance ISN'T all that important to PantherClan cats. Very much basic, marking-less coats are liked in PantherClan, though. Lakepelt (even though TigerClan born) is a prime example of PantherClan not caring much for appearance. As a young warrior, he'd been bulky and bigger than his clanmates, but as time passed, he kept his height but was thinner than before. Growing up in TigerClan's territory with an abundance of prey, Lakepelt had grown plump and was incredibly fluffy due to genetics, and with the lack of abundant prey, he lost a lot of weight and his fluff became more droopy as he groomed it less.

So! There's three wc stories I really want to tell, but I definitely can't manage them all at the same time. The results of this poll aren't a guarantee that I'll do the winner first, but it might encourage me to prioritize it if I know people want to see it!
I'll go into way more detail below the read more, but for a TL;DR:
A. Normal comic where two StarClan gods team up with a living cat to prevent a doomsday brought on by the Dark Forest
B. Mostly text based comic or novel that rotates POVs where eight cats try to form a third clan due to one being overly harsh and the other being overly traditional
C. Mostly text based interactive comic where a clan in an abandoned city has to deal with a zombie apocalypse-like rabies outbreak
A. The Fated Eclipse
In this universe StarClan has two gods, Sun and Moon. As the Dark Forest starts getting up to something, the protagonist, Sharpswoop, has to work with the gods to prevent everyone from dying. He also has to balance this with protecting his mate and kits, dealing with his rebellious apprentice who's training in the Dark Forest, and leading ShadowClan as deputy while the elderly leader's health worsens each day (Also, I don't want to spoil too much, but the Dark Forest may or may not have a higher being of their own...)
It would be formatted like a normal comic where visuals and dialogue are the only thing driving the story. It would also include bonus art between each chapter to help show their daily lives in between everything, and I've already started designing some of the cats
Tumblr media
B. HavenClan: A New Hope
In the beginning, there was one clan, HavenClan, but differences in opinion led the cats to split into two. Half the clan became CliffClan. They live in the mountains and value strength and fighting above all else. The other half stayed in the valley below and became ValleyClan. They devote their lives to StarClan and the warrior code and prefer peace over war. But not all cats fit into these two extreme boxes, and with tensions rising between the two clans, a small group of cats from both clans set out to rebuild HavenClan and find a happy medium. The story focuses on their struggles of integrating life, earning respect from the other clans, and also trying to improve the issues of the other clans.
It would be formatted similarly to PATFW but still be divided up into chapters, each chapter would be from a different HavenClan cat's POV. This would probably be easier for me to make than TFE, but keep in mind there would be less visuals and more reading
-
C. TBD
This one's much less planned out (don't even have a name for it yet 😅) as it's the newest. It would focus on a solitary clan that lives on the edge of an abandoned city but often ventures into the neighboring woods to hunt. Before long, a rabies outbreak occurs. None of the cats know what to do as they've never seen such a disease before, and it essentially turns into a zombie apocalypse as these cats' loved ones turn into unrecognizable, aggressive creatures
What makes it interesting is that it would be interactive! The decisions of the main character are up to the readers to vote on, and could either lead to a happy ending or total doom. This one will definitely be formatted up like PATFW, so if this one ends up happening first, I might make HavenClan a fully text based story with a few scene drawings here and there

The Story of Snow: Chapter 9
~First~ ~Next~ ~Previous~
Snowpaw yawned as she got to her feet. She looked around the apprentice den from her lone nest in the corner. The other nests, as always, were all circled together. Snowpaw looked for her sister's white pelt. She spotted Purepaw, now an apprentice, sleeping near the edge of the rest of the nests. But Whitepaw was nowhere to be seen. Snowpaw grew suspicious. Whitepaw was never up this early. Snowpaw glanced towards the weak dawn light coming in through the entrance. She was surprised she had gotten up before Brightspot had come to wake her up. All the other apprentices were still asleep. Snowpaw shrugged it off and walked out of the den. Immediately she saw Brightspot storming towards the apprentice den, looking ticked off. Brightspot saw Snowpaw, stopped and said
"Come on. We're doing your assessment today." Snowpaw blinked, surprised. What. She wasn't expecting her assessment for at least another half a moon. Unless… Well, Brightspot did seem upset and Whitepaw was missing. Snowpaw asked
"Now? I wasn't expecting it for at least another half moon. Unless Whitepaw-" Brightspot nodded and said
"Yep. Ashstar is doing hers early so yours is happening too. Let's go." She turned and Snowpaw followed. As they walked out of camp, Snowpaw caught Ashstar and Whitepaw's recent scents. They had only left a few minutes ago. They kept walking until they came to a spot in the forest where the trees were close together and easy to climb. Brightspot closed her eyes for a moment and let out a small breath. Then she smiled and opened her eyes. Snowpaw recognized the look in her bright green eyes after a few moments. Pride. It was still weird to see that from a warrior, not including Stormcloud. Stormcloud was always proud of her, even for things she didn't see as a big deal. He was amazing. He was kind to everyone, even if they were awful to him. Snowpaw didn't know how he did it, she usually just yelled at people. Snowpaw pulled herself out of her head when Brightspot spoke. She said
"So! You're doing your assessment today. You'll be hunting of course." Snowpaw tensed, she wasn't good at hunting. Whitepaw was so much better at it. Brightspot must have noticed because she said
"Hey, don't go into your head. You are good at hunting. You can do this. Don't worry about Whitepaw." Snowpaw took a breath and nodded. Brightspot smiled. Then as she walked away she said
"Don't forget the strategies I taught you. Put your prey here after you catch it. You got this." Snowpaw smiled as Brightspot walked away, but it fell. Whitepaw was probably doing her assessment right now as well. She was probably catching some giant rabbit or something, like she always did. Snowpaw let out a big breath, calming herself. Whitepaw didn't matter. Snowpaw climbed up a tree, she caught things a lot up there. After a bit, she had caught a bird and squirrel and had put them in the spot Brightspot told her. She was leaping through the trees when she heard voices. She stopped and listened. It was Whitepaw and Ashstar. Snowpaw creeped through the trees until she could see them, but they couldn't see her. Whitepaw was wining,
"Ugh! We've been out here for forever, my fur is all dirty, I keep getting leaves stuck in it, and it's cold! Can we go back to camp yet?" Snowpaw rolled her eyes, based on her winning, a cat could easily mistake her for a kittypet. Ashstar waited for a moment, then he said
"Not yet. Wait here, I'll be back in a moment." Then he walked away. Whitepaw huffed and sat down, Snowpaw sat on her branch. What was Ashstar doing? Why didn't Snowpaw see any prey Whitepaw had caught? She should have caught something by now. A thought drifted into Snowpaw's mind. What if Whitepaw hadn't caught something? What if she wouldn't pass her assessment? Snowpaw smiled at the thought, Whitepaw would be humiliated if Snowpaw became a warrior before she did. Snowpaw banished the thought. Ashstar wouldn't let that happen. If she didn't pass, he would lie and she would follow. Snowpaw stopped. Was that what he was doing? Catching something to pass off as Whitepaw's? Was Whitepaw even good at hunting? Snowpaw thought back. There wasn't a single time Snowpaw could remember seeing Whitepaw catch something. Shadow spoke
'She's a fake' Shadow was right, as always. Whitepaw was a fake. Snowpaw waited in the tree until Ashstar came back with a huge squirrel and a big bird. He put them down on the ground and said,
"You caught these, if any cat asks." Whitepaw smirked. Snowpaw's face contorted in fury, Whitepaw was a fake and she knew it. Whitepaw started talking in her annoying voice,
"Oh good! I can't wait to be a warrior! What will my name be?" Snowpaw felt her flaming anger turn into a dangerous calm as she watched the fakers talk so casually. Ashstar had a slightly blank look for a moment, and then he started listing a few names,
"Um, Whitepelt? White…uh..fur? Whitefoot?" Whitepaw narrowed her eyes at him and said
"Ew, no. Those are all super basic. I want something cool! Something unique!" His face went blank again.
"White…. Flower? White… Leaf?" Whitepaw rolled her eyes and said
"Ugh! Those suck. How about… Whiteblaze?" Now it was Snowpaw's turn to roll her eyes, that name didn't even make much sense. But Ashstar seemed to disagree as he nodded his head and agreed with Whitepaw. Whitepaw started talking again
"I'll only be Whiteblaze for a little bit. I'll be Whitestar soon enough! Then I won’t have to hunt, some other cat will do that for me!” Snowpaw froze. Did she really think that? Was she that dumb? Ashstar then shook his head side to side, not denying it. Shadow spoke
'The Foxes. You can whistle and call them.' Snowpaw thought for a moment and then let out a high whistle. She kept whistling until she could hear faint but fast and heavy footsteps coming their way, and Ashstar looked up suspiciously. She stopped and waited in anticipation. She saw the moment Ashstar smelled the foxes and started to tell Whitepaw to run, but it was too late. The foxes came upon them. Whitepaw screamed and ran to hide under the roots of a nearby tree, leaving Ashstar to face the foxes alone. 3 vs 1. The foxes immediately attacked Ashstar, him being the only cat they could see. Snowpaw watched him struggle with a tinted joy. She almost felt guilty. Shadow reassured her,
'He deserves this, besides, he has more lives' Snowpaw let out a quiet breath. Shadow was right. Suddenly a fox hit something vital and Ashstar collapsed. A thought hit Snowpaw like a monster. What would Stormcloud think? He would hate this. Snowpaw whistled high again, calling off the foxes, and she ignored Shadow's voice. The foxes walked away, Whitepaw dashed out to Ashstar's body. After a few tense moments Ashstar took a breath and got up, looking shaken. His wounds were healed. He had lost a life and was on his next one. Snowpaw stood up on the tree branch and walked away. On her way back she caught a big bird. That should be good for her assessment. Took a deep breath before jumping down into the clearing. She had to act natural. She jumped down, put her prey down and waited. Soon, Brightspot came back and smiled at Snowpaw's catch, she then said
"You did amazing! Let's take those back to camp. I'm gonna count yesterday's battle training as the battle part of the assessment" Snowpaw picked up the birds and Brightspot picked up the squirrel. Snowpaw was trying not to smile and drop her prey. She was going to be a warrior! Today! Unless her attack made Ashstar not want to. Snowpaw's mind went in between excitement and anxiety as they walked back to camp. It would probably be fine. Probably.
